Boulangism (boo lan’jiz um), n. the doctrines of militarism and reprisals against Germany, advocated, esp. in the 1880’s by the French general Boulanger. — Boulangist, n. Random House
Politics has no place in this forum. So long as division, exclusion and indoctrination are the motives Americans have no representation or party, so there are no words to solve it.
But the oracle has spoken and there are no second choices, so let’s see what we can make of it:
it’s going to be hard to use in a sentence
the word is still being used if spell-check is any indicator
if we replace some key words it might even seem current
Now ain’t that strange? You would almost think some weird unseen force is at work here.
So, here’s the sentence: Any of us can be affected by a Boulangist.
Oh, by the way, the image above: any way we dress it up, it is and always will be -
a weasel.
Knuff said. Movin’ on.
Painfully Redundant Updates:
S&UP (Strange and Unusual Places) sees that you are reading here and that makes it worthwhile. Substack.com is home to this forum and will remain so as long as it lives, and only here; that is because of its mission.
Are you thinking S&UP will wither and die on the vine? Are you thinking this is too good to be true? Are you thinking this is madness?
You are founding members of a media empire (well kinda’) and together we will prove that. To reward you for your efforts we are investigating Substack.com’s newest offering titled Referrals (sounds like a sales pitch). Here’s how it works: above is pictured three pieces of Functional Folk Art valuated by the maker at $200 each. These pieces are already part of legacy digital media and local lore as well as being fully functional. Share, refer, talk about and if your friend subscribes, you get 10% off the piece of your choice (a $20 value). Furthermore, you will get 10% off for every referral to your credit (your record is maintained here) meaning at 10 subscriptions one of the pieces above becomes yours (shipping not included, we’ll work it out); or you can participate until the price meets your liking. Any referrals credited to you are at your discretion, you can use them for this offering or offerings in the future. Cool, eh?
So stay the course as we navigate the rabbit holes of digital media (further details and disclaimers to come).
Meanwhile, this is the place for we the refugees from madness. No matter your faith, if all life is sacred to you, the good, the bad and the ugly, then you belong here and this is our sacred place. Revisit often, re-read (the writer does), talk about it. Get involved, don’t be like the hens in the hen house, afraid to be the first to leave the roost. Ask someone for help. Do what we do: craft your statement carefully and post; in comments, in the notes, by e-mail or just like it. (Hail Cesar).
Postscript: stay tuned for the very first S&UP live promo-tour with our dog and pony show featuring Bruno and his old horse trailer (Hillbilly Hilton), live music, storytellin’ and trade goods.
I completely agree with the sentence and your use of the designated word. On a different note last post did not have the comments available because I enjoyed that post and wasn't able to share with you on it. Last night under the brisk night sky staring at the stars, I got nostalgic of our walks and am grateful for having them. Keep posting man I feel like I'm listening to you speak when I read your arrangement of words.
