That's some impressive pickin', Haynt Blue. I'm starting to understand levels of skill, and it boggles my mind that some rock groups back in the day got by only knowing how to play two or three chords. Pickin' is a whole other level.
I so appreciate your loyal encouragement Ellen, (kinda' sexy) and it's just the adrenalin hit needed to keep the wheel turning.
I refer to my playing style as "sloppy guitar". Layed down the guitar pick long ago because it makes me play too fast (overrun my headlights) and play with my uneducated right hand. Sight reading, the circle of fifths and fourths, half notes, flats, sharps, diminutives etc. just bore the hell out me, just want to have fun and every moment spent learning by rote is a moment I can be playing instead.
For every musician met who benefits from the education, there is one trying to unlearn it for the sake of creativity. Both have merit, it's a choice.
As for Milo - he's a phenom'. Wherever we go he's a favorite. Folks stop us all the time, lower their car windows and comment as they pass by. He's a superstar!
So many people quit instruments because learning by rote is boring or difficult. I tried reading a manual on how to play the guitar and got lost in the eighth notes. Maybe it's because the system doesn't really make sense and some of us notice that! So many artists I read about learned by messing about and kept their enthusiasm and creativity intact, and never took any lessons. So that says something!
Yankees smoke with apple and make their pipes of corn. Confederates and we border folk smoke with hickory, make our pipes of apple, pear and lilac. The corn we feed to the chickens.
