Well, Open Mic Night has been fun, but like all compulsive creatives we bore easily and when the audience (save for a couple die hard supporters) is silent as a crypt - that’s not enriching. Have had more responsive audiences playing for funerals; besides bugging the same people for more recordings gets old fast - for them and me.
So maybe it’ll be back, if that’s what folks want.
Speaking of a crypt, let’s dig way down deep and resurrect some old memories. Strangely enough my own stories are my favorites and reside here for me to revisit often. This is my favorite Substack space.
Are you posting all your weekly posts to Notes? That's seems to be the only way to get an audience. Substack immediately gives you that option as soon as you post, so it's very easy to do. That's how I'm getting readers.
In terms of 'active' readers, speaking from my own experience, most people do not 'like' or comment -- even people who are my friends and family. I suspect that, now that they know everything online is being tracked, they are reading but not willing to commit to liking something for fear it will go on their 'file.' I can't blame them.
The people who do comment, for me, tend to be people who are substack authors and have nothing to lose because they are already voicing their opinions regularly anyway.
I value your music and your writing - you have insight and wit - and look forward to your posts. And love to see pics of Milo as well.
Again sorry about the lack of audience but I looked forward to your music and I love reading your unusual encounters
